Sante Fe Lake is a decent-sized lake in Alachua County, approximately 15 miles from Gainesville.

You will have access to Walmart Supercenter, Gainesville Regional Airport, UF Health Shands Hospital, and other typical city establishments. If you are looking for a more significant city scene, the lake is situated south of Jacksonville and north of Orlando.

Picturesque Lake of Central Florida

Santa Fe Lake is a 5,850-acre expanse of glittering waters reaching depths of 30 feet. The lake is spring-fed and feeds into the Santa Fe River. Tall trees draped in moss decorate the lakeshore creating picturesque scenes all around the lake.

There is plenty of exploring on this magnificent stretch of water; kayak, canoe, or boat around the waters to see the lake's beautiful, natural foliage.

Sante Fe Lake has an excellent stock of black crappie, largemouth bass, bluegill, redear, and more. Anglers like casting into the lake's shadowed areas to reel in big fish hiding in the shadows.

The area is home to a wealth of wildlife, including storks, loons, blue jays, deer, raccoons, bald eagles, otters, and turkeys. Have a chance to spot some of these animals along trails at the Santa Fe Lake Park, or use the boat launch touring the waters.

Outside the Lake

Football fans will love being close to the University of Florida, where they can spend their Saturdays cheering on the team from the stadium or tailgating. The college town is home to a variety of restaurants and shops for exploring on a fun night out.

Your adventuring doesn't have to stop at the lake, Devil's Millhopper State Park, Kanapaha Botanical Gardens, or the Butterfly Rainforest are in Gainesville.
